An alternative to a conventional MFA, Alternate Currents (AC) is a two-year program designed to support artists and organizers working to incubate liberatory ideas that move our community forward.
Alternate Currents is one of only a few programs across the US which prioritizes free access to a cohort learning experience and funding outside larger institutional systems.
AC Cohort
The Alternate Currents cohort is working group of artists and organizers who meet regularly to share resources and co-create creative research for publication. Over two years, cohort members sharpen critical inquiry and establish channels of mutual support.
Discussion Series
Alternate Currents panel discussions are public forums that bring together artists, organizers, and educators for in-depth conversations about how justice in the arts is interpreted, documented, and enacted. Visit our Happenings page for info about upcoming AC discussions.
AC Blog
The Alternate Currents blog is home to an extensive archive of discussions, interviews, critical writing, and creative research that offers new perspectives on liberatory ideas in the arts.
AC Publications
Alternate Currents publications anthologize AC cohort members’ creative research in a physical format that circulates, reaching new audiences both in and outside of Omaha.
